Chinese Shadow Show
The Chinese shadow show will take place at the Shichahai Shadow Art Performance Hotel at 8 pm. The show will last for 30 minutes, split into two acts, and will be performed in English. But, what really is a shadow show?
Also known as a shadow play show, or a shadow puppetry show, this is a very popular type of performance in Asian countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, India, Thailand and, of course, China. It is a spectacular form of theatre acted by colourful silhouette figures made from leather or paper, accompanied by music and singing which narrate Chinese history and legends.
This is such an incredible art form, that in the year 2011 in was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There is no doubt that it deserves this recognition; you'll have never seen anything quite like it! Plus, after the show you'll have the chance to meet the puppeteer and, with his help, you'll learn about how this show is performed and you'll even get to try it for yourself.
This wonderful experience will, unfortunately, come to an end at 9 pm.
The activity takes place with a guide that speaks in English.
