From Tiananmen Square, Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949. Since then, the square has witnessed many historic events, including the May Fourth Movement in 1919 and the protests of 1989.

• Due to high demand, we strongly recommend booking this ticket with as much time in advance as possible, especially during peak season.
• Despite purchasing this ticket, you'll still need to go through security checks. This is required for all participants, regardless of where the reservation was made. Sometimes, this wait can be over an hour.
• There are usually fewer people before 8 am and during lunch and dinner time.
